We chose Julian because we wanted to live out our lives with a traditional home town community in a charming town. We moved here and started to notice the people and how they cared for this spotless town with many volunteers who expect nothing for their efforts. God wioll bless them all ten times over. Most of all I noticed the cats and kittys. Being new to this town I was surprised and in wonder. Then I learned about the love of a town and the great effort through the town hall, the Feral cat Coalition, the Humane Society and most of all the people I have always wanted to share community values with for many years. This brought conviction to me and howl want to live my life for people, animals, nature and beauty. The thisng money and selfishness take from our communities. I wonder what could be so bitter and deep rooted in anger and resentment that is so internalized that anyone could torture any of these beautiful healthy nurtured cats. Mittens was our beautiful, sweet cat who slept with us and purred all night long. She is now dead because of poison. Silver is still alive and suffering from it. Someone took it upon themselves to mass poison the feral cats, and our domestic cat ate and joined in the community with them. Mittens was sick for two days and she died the most brutal death. Convulsing and bleeding before she died. This has brought up anger and discussed feelings we have not experienced. We saw the same feelings in everyone we've talked to about this. We're trying to process this in a healthy way in this loving community. We see the healthy side in our store owners, our Sheriff's Department, our town hall and our neighbors and volunteers, The Feral cat Coalition and Humane Society and every God loving human being that knows suffering and God's love. I appreciate anyone who could help with this investigation, so we can stop this killer and the slaughter of these innocent cats. This is a felony, because it is intentional "Cruelty to Animals." We ask that the eyes and ears of our community be alert to anyone who you might see. be alert to this. We also pray you seek forgiveness for this and STOP this viciousness. I love this town and the people in it and their love for all of God's creatures! In the Spirit of Mittens Kathy Neilsen emait: .... Jliannews.com Five years ago a friend and I opened a Caf in Julian and called it Cowgirl Caf. Back in July of 2009 we received a letter from a lawyer telling us that we were in threat of a lawsuit for infringement on the use of the name "Cowgirl Cafe". Imagine my surprise! What is this? We've been in business for five years, established! Thinking back, we did everything the county required! Yet to my surprise what I found out is that the county doesn't "suggest" or "warn" you to look into trademarks or patents. So with a little research, and the letter from the lawyer, we found out that a Mr. Patrick Addy has a trademark on the name "Cowgirl" Care. He owns four restaurants, the closest being in Norco, Riverside County, up north. So just a little thought to anyone who is starting or thinking about doing a business. Research into trademarks and patents before you give it all to the county. But the main reason for this letter is to let those of you who support us, know that we haven't gone anywhere! We've just changed our name. We're now Cowbella Ranch Cafe. So hopefully we will see you soon and those who haven't been in, What are you waiting for? Come on in and enjoy a great lunch! Thanks to all, Carl Thompson Jeff Sauter To the Julian News, Recently there was a -Letter to the Editor" published opposing a liquor license for Jack's market. While everyone is entitled to an opinion I question the validity of some of the points offered. Jack's parking lot is close to the Church property but to get there requires a walk up a steep hill. The Church parking lot is just as close and level with the meeting place. I would suggest that after walking up a steep hill and attending a meeting the attendee might have a greater thirst upon arriving back at the car than the person who parked on the Church parking lot. While Julian is a small town it hosts a number of small businesses competing with each other (Apple Pie Bakeries). There does not appear to be undue competition, lowering of prices, becoming a disadvantage to the community and creating a public nuisance. Granted there are overweight people that should limit their intake of apple pie. Thank God Julian has only one gas station in town.
