Anyhow, when a family of crows shows up in my back- yard, I make sure to have plen- ty of peanuts and whole-grain bread on hand to feed them, and that my birdbaths are filled with fresh water. I love the raucous crow and marvel at its jet-black plumage. E-mail: 2011 King Features Syrldicate, Inc. They need time during which they remain alive but do not grow. This process is obvious in some plants - they shed their leaves. Some simply stop growing or flowering. This is often mistaken for death! Many need a cool place such as a frost-free cellar or attic to go through their dormant period. Reduced water and light should be given to the plant at this time.
