In being a co-advisor for the Senior Class, we saw, in action, the amazing giving spirit of so many of our local businesses. They really were so good to donate so many things to us and we can't thank them enough as the seniors prepare for all of their upcoming activities and graduation. You are responsible for making their year amazing. As the Spanish Club advisor of the high school and the organizer of the Costa Rica Trip every 2 years, I see this generosity in action again! I feel like we ask so much of our community and I am amazed at how the business owners and other volunteers are always so cheerful in how they take care of our youth. My high school experience was so different than what our community gives to our youth. They say "it takes a village to raise a child", and I see so much willingness to be "village members" here. As I am reflecting on this, I know there are soooo many people that should be named, but, I will only name a few in the interest of time. I want to shout out a HUGE thank you to all of the organizations in our town that have already helped us (The Spanish Club in their quest to to Costa Rica) and to those that have helped us in the past! There are so many, but, I would like to mention at least a few... First of all, the whole community should really shout, "thank you!" every time they drive by the American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion! They did 2 breakfasts for us (the Spanish Club) for the last trip and that helped us so much! These men all donate such a huge amount of time and energy to all of our community activities. They often put in more hours than the people benefitting from the breakfast! They work so hard preparing for each breakfast and they ask nothing in return! They work cheerfully and selflessly email: constantly on Sunday mornings to help out our youth or other parties in need. These men have given so much, in their service to their country, and now, in their service to their community! They are role models to us all. It is so important that we don't get so used to people helping us that we forget to a ppreciate it or notice it! Secondly, Wynola Pizza has done and offered to do more fundraising dinners for us and for many other organizations. They do a lot of work for it and yet give the benefitting group 25% of all of the proceeds on the given night. The owners, the Homers, have always been so supportive of our community and cheerfully step up whenever there is a group in need! Jeremy's on the Hill has recently started doing fundraising dinners as well- we can't wait to give them a call! The Rosenow/Spevacek family donated a family membership to the Pinecrost Pool for the summer and we plan to raffle it off. We are super grateful for that prize as well. We will often have bake sales in front of the bank or town hall and community members and tourists go above and beyond in their generosity to US. I can honestly say that Julian Is an amazing place to raise children and such a wonderful community to be a part of! Sincerely, Catherine Kuiper Grief Counceling - Grief Counseling is being offered for the Julian Community.
