Job Searchi And Interview Skills Workshop At The Library The Julian News 3 All Your Tree Service Needs Commercial On Saturday, March 26 at 10:00 AM, the Julian branch library will hold the second of its job skills workshops. Branch librarian Colleen Baker worked for sixteen years in Human Resources with the County of San Diego will combine her HR experience with her library research experience to present a program about the hidden job market and how to best compete in today's job market. While Baker could tell many stories about interviews she has conducted over the years that might that give you a chuckle or cause you to pause, she wants to impart her knowledge with you so you don't become one of those stories. Yes, many things come with good common sense. Dress appropriately for your interview. Comb your hair, don't pull out a nail file from your purse and start filing your nails while you are being interviewed. In a small community with few employers, it is difficult to find jobs. That really can't be fixed. The economy also is pretty bad, especially for a tourist community, again, something that can't be fixed. Resumes can be fixed, attitudes can be fixed, reality can be taught. Networking is important. Being prepared for the interview is important. Know what the job is and what are your strengths and weaknesses. Learn that you have NO weaknesses. You can learn anything you don't already know. Come for the prese~ation and follow up with a question and answer period. You will be informed and entertainedT The Library is located next to the high school at 1850 Highway 78.
