March 31, 2010 Joe Rathburn's Encore At Romano's "After Hours" Popular demand brings Joe Rathburn back to "After Hours" on Saturday Night at Romano's on April 3rd. Music starts at 8:30 P.M. for Joe's first encore performance. Accompanying Joe on percussion will be Jeff Stasny of the group Mesa Blue who will grace the "After Hours" corner next month. If Joe's last performance is any indication, the house should be full and rockin with a mix of his award winning originals and move the tables out of the way I want to dance, covers. Last performance saw a master musician handle requests from all eras of rock-n-roll and an appreciative crowd, singing and drumming along. Joe is a busy, working musician who's local demand in San Diego rarely gives him the opportunity to hit the back-country and "After Hours" at Romano's is happy to host him. Stasny, on djembe, cajon, bongos, chimes, shakers and whatever percussive contraption he has in his bag is a show in itself. Jeff is a perfect complement to Joe and plays with him often. The full bar and great food at Romano's doesn't stop when the music starts. The "After Hours" menu of lite fare is available all evening. The views and listening from the main room are good for those of you coming in for a late dinner and staying later for the music. The bar area fills quickly, so get there early for a good seat, stay late and enjoy one of the great musicians on the San Diego scene. For more information, you can contact Hillside Church's Youth Group. The Death Jump - Professional skateboarder Zac Archuleta does the "Death Jump" over Julian High School's Principal Cara Kern and Art teacher Garnette Welch at a lunch-time assembly. The California Country Music Association also honored Jann as Entertainer of the Year two years in a row. As a songwriter, Jann and guitarist Matt Barnes had their song "Trouble's Here" recorded by Lee Ann Womack and it quickly became their first gold record. She recently released her fifth album a tribute to her old friend Buck Owens. "Buckin' Around", takes Browne back to her roots. "1 cut my teeth on Buck and Don Rich. "It was always my favorite albums in my mom's west coast collections. I can remember being around 11 years old and sitting on our front porch swing in Georgetown Kentucky with a guitar, trying to learn "Love's Gonna Live Here." I've incorporated Buck songs throughout my shows for years. I attended Buck's funeral. I have the greatest respect for him and his music and the pleasure of hanging around him a few times. He said some nice things about me and my music. Those are things rll always remember. I felt very compelled to make an album from a female perspective. There will never be another Buck and Don. But there can be those of us that thru voice, can keep the torch of their music alive." "You'll find nothing reverential or rote about "Buckin' AroUnd," since that wouldn't be much of a tribute to an individualist like Buck. Instead, it's Jann being Jann, as feisty and free as ever, with a great crew buckin' behind her." - Jim Washburn. If you missed Jann's last appearance in January check out Jann Browne on YouTube, there are some classic videos and some from this past summer that will give you a good indication of just how entertained you will be by this little blonde with the big voice and country roots. Her show promises to be one of the most outstanding Country performances to ever visit Julian. The show begins at 8PM, as always the cover charge goes directly to the musicians.
