Letter to Editor
THANKS JULIAN
FIRE & EMERGENCY!
Dear Editor,
I wish to express my sincere thanks to
the emergency medical team that came
to assist me during my recent midnight
trip to the hospital. Carl Schweikert and
Bob Garner were at our house in
minutes, as was Kevin Dubler and the
ambulance team, Carolina Finch and
Patty Koch. That these kind people got
up in the middle of the night to help
their neighbor is one of the most
wonderful things imaginable! Many,
many thanks to all of you!
Gratefully,
Mary Ellen Thilken

QUOTES
"What is a highbrow'? He is a man
who has found something more inter-
esting than women." - Edgar Wallace
"I know I've got a degree. Why
does that mean I have to spend my
life with intellectuals? I've got a life-
saving certificate, but I don't spend
my evenings diving for a rubber brick
with my pajamas on." - Victoria
Wood
"I once heard a Californian student
in Heidelberg say, in one of his
calmest moods, that he would rather
decline two drinks than one German
adjective." - Mark Twain
***
"The subjunctive mood is in its
death throes, and the best thing to do
is to put it out of its misery as soon as
possible." - W. Somerset Maugham
"How rare, how precious is frivol-
ity! How few writers can prostitute
all their powers! They are always
implying, 'I am capable of higher
things' ." - E.M. Forster
