Track
by Ben Beatty
Everything must have a
beginning, and this year's track
team has had a good one. They
started off with the Elmure
Runge classic at Patrick Henry
High School. Though we only
had a small percentage that
went, twelve to be exact, we
came home with seven medals.
The meet took almost ten hours!
The next week the team made
the long journey out to Vista High
School for their first Conference
meet. Itwas best running weather
you could ask for. The whole
team preformed excellent in
their individual events, especially
Kylene Schuler and Wills Booth
the male and female athletes of
the meet respectively. The team
took home four first places and
seven second places. You have
to remember that this is only the
second meet and this team has
great potential, so congratulate
your fellow eagles!
Can anything be sadder than work
unfinished? Yes," work never begun.

School Spirit
by Hunter McConneU
There seems to be a lack
of school spirit at Julian High
School. Not many students go to
the games and not many students
participate in the pep-rally's. The
only way to change this is to
change the students enthusiasm
when going to school.
The ASB and other seperate
students need to create some
new activities at lunch or
before school to get students
pumped up for school. Maybe
some competeative sports or
more spirit days. Mr. Munson
has created some lunchtime
volleyball games which many
students participate in and other
just enjoy the gameplay while
they sit up in the bleachers with
friends. This alone has inspired
students to want to create new
ways to enjoy their days.
If the students of Julian High
School come together to make
the school better and more
enjoyable foe the students. Then
this might motivate therm to try to
get better grades and participate
in more sports and pep-rally's.

TV Shows: And
Their Influence On The Youth
by Kendra Ritch
Not many parents realize that some of the TV shows they let their
kids watch have a negative effect. So many young kids watched adult
shows! They watch shows like Family Guy, American Dad, South
Park, and many more. What a lot of parents don't know, is that these
series can create a problem- problems like bad behavior, language,
etc. Although humorous, these are not a good influence.
Children, even teenagers absorb bad influences and acquire other
bad habits from these adult and reality shows. These programs
contain extreme violence, drugs, and alcohol.
Seeing these characters the youth may look up to has led them
to more likely try these substances. Teenagers may be urged to
party and experiment. The young viewers may reenact this violence,
physically or verbally, in their homes or at school.
These programs create adolescence with behavioral problems,
and have many stereotypes in them. The dad is always portrayed as
ignorant, with a low IQ and not very caring. The moms are usually
smart, beautiful, yet neglected and annoyed by their husbands. Then
you have the children who are young, idiotic, rude, awkward, and
have trouble with school. Kids see the way the characters act, and
reflect it in their own life.
We need to restrict the young ones from watching these shows.
Some parents need to look into what their children watch more. If
you don't like what they are watching, don't be soft- block it from their
viewing options! Look at the ages suggested for each program. In
doing this, we can fix the youths attitude, way of thinking, and help
them to make better choices.
Examples of Poor TV Programs:
• Family Guy • Futurama
• South Park • Jersey Shore
• American Dad • The Simpsons
• Robot Chicken • Tom and Jerry
