Double Duty
Give migrating finches and bun-
tings a little boost this year by
mixing equal portions of thistle
seed, safflower seed and white
proso millet. Toss on the ground
near a bush or brush pile. You'll
be glad you did when you see
one of these little beauties land in
your yard.

• FISHING REPORT •
Howdy! From
Lake Cuyamaca
"Dusty Britches" along with
"Skid Mark",Wet Sox", "Cuss
Cussler", and "Single Speed".
Well, the weather out here has
been "finer than froghair!!!" A
little afternoon breeze cools
everything off, then dies down
around sunset. The deer are
bountiful at the south end, close
to Milk Ranch Road. And the bald
eagles are making their presence
known.., great viewing.
The fishing is consistently
good. Lots of fish being caught,
cleaned, and taken home without
our folks in the bait and tackle
shop getting a picture or putting
your name in the logbook. So,
please stop by and let us know
what your catch of the day was.
Wayne Raffesberger of San
Diego snagged a 5 pounder as
part of his catch using red and
gold Thomas Buoyants at Lone
Pine out of a Kayak. We are
getting more "Yakkers" out there
lately. Norman Stone Jr. brought
in a stringer of fish weighing 9
pounds 8 ounces with the largest
fish at 2 pounds 8 ounces using
a powerbait worm(or mice tail) at
the Willows out of a boat. Nick
Rodrigues of Santee came in with
a 13 pound 8 ounce stringer...
largest trout was a 3 pound 4
ounce rainbow.., also at the
Willows... same bait. There were
4 people in the boat and they all
limited out with 20 trout. James
Giordano of El Cajon reeled in
a 7 pound 8 ounce trout as part
of his stringer. He caught it on
inflated nightcrawlers at Lone
Pine. Caiya and Carley of Julian
caught 4 fish weighing 10 pounds
5 ounces with the largest tipping
the scales at 3 pounds even at
the South Jetty. And, Jenny and
Rudy of San Diego limited out
with a 15 pound stringer.., the
largest fish came in at 5 pounds
12 ounces using chartreuse and
orange micetails at Lone Pine.
The "Chuck Wagon" is now
open and serving up some great
grub. Jene Calloway and his
rowdy bunch of hash slingers are
doin a mighty fine job. No food
fights in the kitchen.., yet. The
application to serve beer and
wine is going to take a while, but
we found out that you can bring
a favorite beer or a special bottle
of wine with you if you choose
to include it with your dinner. No
under-age drinkin allowed and if
you pull the cork, ya gotta finish
what you started or we pour it
out. No takin a half finished bottle
of wine back out the door with
you.., no corkage fee charged,
we just want ya'all (or all ya'all) to
have a good time. We have some
stem glassware to assist you in
your endeavors.
The "Canada" geese are
pairing up right now and laying
eggs with nobody to tell whether
or not they are furtile. But one
thing is for sure, the parents are
very territorial and protective of
the eggs.., even if they are laid
on the "chemical barge" or on
the "boat dock". More than once
I've watched anglers prevented
from getting back to their boat
because a Canada goose has an
egg near-by...
