Thank you and God bless you for helping us through this difficult time. The family of Liz Smothers Dear Friends in Julian: Last March, I approached Lee Stanley as the owner of Mash Tree Service a Landscape Company. Told him what I had in mind about making some improvements to the Frank Lane park on Farmer Road, which is in the water district. I come up from San Diego every year for the bluegrass festival and often the banjo festival, plus other times when I just come up to visit the town. I like the amphitheater very much but staying "on it" has always been a problem. I concentrate on staying more than on the music. I am not into grading and cement. However, I thought it might be possible to HOG Leaers, Apparel sink a few posts and enhance ]_.,TJ Gifts &Jewelry the viewing by putting in some the simple bleachers. He has done a lot of research and finds that the water district will not allow this improvement, but only the performing area which was grandfathered in. Lee has spent a lot of time doing research on this possibility and has made some drawings and cost analysis. However, he does not have access to the "powers that be." I am really sorry it was not possible to do this for the townspeople. It was to be a low profile accommodation and i did not feel it would compromise the environment or beauty of the park. (PS: I did donate 204 acres on Eagle Peak Rd. to the San Diego River Park Foundation in 2oo8) Cordially, Rae Tauber / / / 9203 6 Recently a deputy was sent to investigate an incident between SDG&E and a home owner. Finding little to investigate, this deputy took it upon himself to check out all the structures on the property for permits. These structures are located several miles away from the incident being investigated. One of the properties is the home of a couple who have lived there more than a generation. "Nice job deputy." Try to remember the words to protect and serve, not connivance and sneakiness. PS: The District Attorney later revealed that "no" crime has been committed on this property. James C. Baker Retired Fire Chief > :k ,1 Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art....It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. -- C.S. Lewis Dear Community of Julian: The Community Parent Coalition has brought our annual parent day back! On Thursday, May 6th all parents of Julian High School students and adults of the community are welcome to join us on our small, but beautiful campus. Each parent that arrives will have an experience of a day in the life of a Julian High School student. They will be given a student escort who will show them the "ropes" of our high school. In the past two years we have had awesome turn outs of parents, last year alone we had 32 parents! Lets make this year just as fun as last year! On arriving at school each parent will receive a packet full of knowledge that now is embedded in each students mind. It will include: a map of our campus, a class and teacher schedule, a list of ways you can contact our teachers, and lastly a questionnaire of what you thought of our learning environment. At the end of a long day of academics all parents, their children, and students escorts will be accommodated with a fine lunch. We hope to see you there!
