Just returning from a tour of the British Isles from April 8th - 24th, where she performed with other female songwriters in a tour titled "Take Three Girls" she and Australian -Ange Boxall, teamed up with various UK singer/songwriters; Danni Nicholls, Cat Sounders, Lisa Fitzgibbon, Ela Edmondson, Aitch, Ashleigh Flynn, Siobhan O'Brien, Amy Hill, Edwina Hays, Brooke Sharkey, Hannah Scott, in local pubs and stages around England, Ireland and Whales. She is a modern-day June Carter with the lyrical sense of Dolly Parton. With strong roots in classic country, bluegrass and classic I) rock, she falls firmly under the genre of Americana. In a review of her most recent CD-"Doghouse Rose" "Sara Petite's voice is classic country. The songs themselves, all written by Petite except for one co-write and a Harlan Howard cover, remind us of the best of the best stuff that Chip Taylor wrote for his collaborations with Carrie Rodriguez a few years back. But it's more than that. The songs themselves run the gamut from bluegrass ("Bootleggers") to singer/ songwriter ("Souvenirs", not the Prine/Goodman song) to straight country/honky-tonk ("Doghouse Rose", "Baby Let Me In,) and even a little pop". Backed up by her band the Tiger Mountain Boys, Sara often fills the chairs in the Red Barn to over flowing, so you want to arrive a little before the scheduled show time of 6 o'clock to insure a prime table. Team up this kind of quality entertainment with the great food from the kitchen at Wynola Pizza, (you have to try the specials ... the pizza is great but there is so much more on the menu) provides for a great evening out. If you have a sweet tooth, there's the Bread Pudding or Mud Pie - which is more than enough for two.
