The Julian STORM Academy of Martial Arts wants to thank the many who came together to help make the breakfast benefit offered by Son's of the American Legion such a great success. It was an amazing opportunity to help raise funds for the Kung-Fu Kid's Sponsorship Program. I thank all our Academy members who hit the pavement running and worked tirelessly to make sure tickets got sold. I applaud each of them for giving so willingly of their time and efforts. Students arrived at the America Legion dressed in their Gi's as early as 6:45 and most didn't leave until the last speck of dirt was off the highly trafficked floors. The breakfast was truly a labor of love & fun. We had about 20 Academy members and several parents working throughout the Legion and streets to make the benefit a hit! I loved how our indoor crew had such proper manners and smiles when serving our guests and making sure that their tables were set beautifully, with all condiments full and accessible and juice was always being served and refilled. I felt like. a proud Mama of 20+. The. crew consisted of Members: Crosswhite, Starlin, Finn, Davis, Burke and Retz. In speaking to one of our breakfast guests, Michele Harvey, our local Julian News columnist, she said these special words to me; "This is the generation that will be caring for us in our old age and we need to make sure they grow up respecting themselves and others. This is the reason I support the STORM, for the work you do.,' What a blessing to see others in our community noticing the growth in our students. Thank you, Michele for such a huge compliment to our kids. Our outdoor crew was absolutely dynamic with displays of kicks and crunches on the street, inverted pushups and constant announcements of "All you can eat breakfast and all you can drink coffee and OJ." Some yelled out "Pancakes, "and you would see people off the street smile and say "which way do I go?" Boy oh boy, did we have the cute factor going too! Our youngest outdoor crew member was about 5 years old. They were all so enthusiastic and welcoming of our town's visitors. Our outdoor crew consisted of Members: Arias and mini-Arias, 3 more Starlin's, Copeland, Lund, Rowell, Smith and 3 more Retz's. We even had some STORM friends come by to join in with the inviting and sign holding. 92036 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / r Fabulous job STORM! Our clean-up crew was phenomenal! Dishes started coming in at about 7 a.m. and there was never dirty dishes in the sink. Our sweet and efficient Mrs. De Vault made sure that everything was clean and available. Mrs. Burke was a great assistant in clean-up, drying and polishing. Mrs. Arias was all over the place making sure that all was flowing well and filled in where there was need; serving, cleaning, greeting- amazing! Several students relieved each other by switching posts. Everyone gave it their a11- 100%! The breakfast waspacked with friends, families and supporters enjoying a great meal and great company. Thank you, Julian for your support. We couldn't have done it without your We also thank our out of town guest who drove up for the day to help support the program. To the Son's of the American Legion, You worked HARD to cook the eggs, hash browns, sausages, biscuits and gravy to perfection. You did it all with great attitudes and smiles on your faces, all to help our Kung-Fu Kid's Program. Gentlemen and one Madame who was worki9 with The Sons of the Am. Legion; we thank you for your generosity and willingness to support our Academy for now our second breakfast. You give so much to our town and our kids. Your generosity blesses many and with the success of this breakfast, 6 children in need from our community will be sponsored into our program for 1 year. We greatly appreciate all your support and ask the Lord to bless you and your families for your kind and giving hearts. Thank you, Mr. Fink for helping promote the Academy breakfast day at the Legion on the "Son Spot" with all your kind words. Thank you, Mr. Hart for all your support throughout years and coverage of the Academy in "The Julian News ." You have both been our voice. Thank you to all who made this breakfast a great success. So many members of our community gave of their time and energy to help our town's kids. I have said it before and I will say it again, it takes many to come together to help raise our youth. When our great town of Julian sees a need, its' members come together with heart and concern to help provide what our children need. Thank you, Julian for loving our kids.
