June 16, 2010 FISHING REPORT News from Lake Cuyamaca Last Week's Results and This Week's Prognosis THE TACKLE SHOP IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK 6:00 AM TO 6:00 PM SHORE FISHING GOES UNTIL 8:00 PM Lots of wildlife along the trails and highway. The Bald Eagles have been flying over almost daily. ATTENTION ALL YOU GEOCACHE FANS. The staff here at Lake Cuyamaca have devised a geocache trail that should provide fun and outdoor activity for the whole family. The trail is 1.96 miles and takes-about an hour to walk while looking for the hidden geocaches. You will need to bring your GPS and good walking shoes. Stop in at the tackleshop on West Shore to get the flyer with the clues and coordinants. The Ranger will give you directions for the Trail Head. BEST BAIT: Nightcrawlers BEST SPOTS: T-Dock, Shore Notables: Our regular fisherman Flea of Descanso caught a 12.4 pound catfish on a night crawler at the T-Dock. Brandon Valentine of Ramona caught 2 Bass using a spinner shad near the Dock. The largest was 6.5 pounds. Flea also caught 3 trout using a night crawler, they weighed in at 6 pounds, the largest was 2 pounds. The Free fishing class is held every Saturday at 10:00 am. Meet Ranger Charlie at the launch ramp. THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PRIVATE VESSELS AND MOTORS BEFORE LAUNCH. ALSO FLOAT TUBES AND WADERS MUST BE WASHED DOWN BEFORE USING THE LAKE. THERE IS A FEE FOR THE WASH DOWN.
