If you have items to donate, bring them to the American Legion meeting hail'on Washington Street. Graffiti Just a little ways down Banner Grade I was disappointed to see a highway road sign get "tagged" with gang activity. Not much later another gang name was inked in response. Finally, a third insignia was added. The sign was covered and useless. Whatever their intention, or the underlying reality, I appreciate our community here in Julian as living outside of this bit of pop culture. I, of course, want my/ our children to grow up in an environment as free as possible from violence and drug-activity. It will take work. I was pleasantly surprised to see the sign replaced just a week ago. I don't know who to thank for this, whether it be CalTrans, our County crew,, Highway Patrol or Sheriffs, i but I know I speak for many in I expressing our appreciation for keeping our community clean. Thank you. l V. S. Copeland / / / / // / / / / 92036 / / / / / email: @julinnews,com positive person to carry on the program. The time commitment is from around 2:30 to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday from early August to late November. Working with the kids a day or so a week on a summer running program would also be helpful. The team is coed and generally the total number of athletes ranges from around 12 to 18. The other coaches in the league are great people to work with and the meets are great fun. If you have any interest or questions, please feel free to call me at 760-765-1598. Thank you, Rich Wolf The library is featuring a wonderful display of art from the students of the Julian Elementry 'School. There was an article about the students working with author and psychologist Cathy Conheim and two artists working with the students to make magnificant art renderings. If you haven't been to the library to see the art work feat u4"ing Dolly, Henry and Tink, the three animals featured in Conheim's books. June 22, 2011 , ____ sta I I-Iave You I-Iad Your Bagel? I started as assistant coach to Bill Porter in 2007 and was head coach for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Julian High has a rich tradition in cross country and historically they do very well at league and CIF championships. The girl's teams have won many league and CIF titles and for the last two years the boy's have been league and CIF champs. Just about every year, Julian sends either teams or individuals to the State Championship. It has been a pleasure to have been involved with these teams over the years, and it has been one of the most rewarding times of my life. Under Coach Porter I learned a lot about coaching and working with young athletes. The school has advertised for a new head coach and Coach Porter and myself have been working to help fill the position, but with no success. We would hate to see the program dropped, if a new head coach cannot be found. Coach Porter and I would be happy to work with a new coach to help ease the transition. Experience is not necessary, but we are looking for a passionate, Oberon's Visit Henry at Henrysworld.org and see more of the children's art work which is now on exhibit in the Julian library/ I am very proud of the children of Julian for allowing their masterpieces to be in display. If you have not yet come into the library so see the art, the full display will be here through June 30. when The Julian Art Guild will have William Duffy displaying his art work. We will continue to display the children's art in the Children's area of the library. Parents, grandparents, family members and all others who appreciate art, please come see this fabulous art display at the Julian branch library.
