July 11, 2012 The Julian News 11 CJnoly Brook ik Wildlife Seed Blend I like .to buy a wildlife seed blend .from my local wild bird store. It is chock-full of white stripe and black oil sunflower, small peanuts in the shell, dried corn and much more. To stretch it out, I mix it with sunflower chips and unsalted peanuts. The birds love it. 2012 King Features Syndicate, Inc, E-mail: FISHING REPORT Howdy From Lake Cuyamaca Dusty Britches, Wet Sox, and Skid Mark shoutin out to you about some current events here at the lake. Sorry for not making the deadline on the last issue, but we did have some tall tales to tell. Too bad, that's all history now! The big story of the week is that the Lake Cuyamaca Board was supl ortive enough to increase our trout budget for the upcoming year. That means either larger loads of trout starting now, July 1st, with the current trout stocking schedule or the same amount of fish on each load but more loads. For the 4th of July we were able to put smiles on a lot of faces after receiving 1,000 pounds of trout from the DFG Mojave Hatchery out of Victorville and then. Two hours later received an additional 1,200 pounds of Sierra Bows from Jess Ranch out of Apple Valley. That's over a ton of fish planted the day before Independence Day! The days were hot, but the fishin was hotter! Even the dogs were Iookin for a place to cool off. We had some overly ambitious sailors who went skinny dippin last night before they were caught by north shore ranger Beckie Strahan. Something was mentioned about swimmin with bow-legged women. I'm not sure what that means. All in all, the sailors didn't make many friends that night. General Rules 1. No swimming, No exceptions 2. No waterskiing 3. No jet skis We've had a number of rattlesnake sightings, but so far nobody has been bitten. If you plan to visit us, please keep this in the back of your head. Just give them plenty of room and you will be all right. A variety of fish being taken right now. No great size, but eclectic stringers of fish with trout, crappie, channel catfish, and bluegill all on the same stringer. Trout are not too large, but limits are pretty common. Water temperature in the lake is hovering around 72 degrees. Today we received a new bluegill plant from the Alpine Fishery, a business that was recommended to us with hopes of bolstering that Bluegill fishery by next spring. The lake has some weeds right now that we are trying to deal with, so be careful where you cast out. Tight lines everyone, Dusty Britches The four-spot skimmer is the official state Alaska. i dragonfly insect of e .... ee g Apple W N NI J Rick Dyer DRE# 01419334 1 1. Lovely Pine Hills Ho 4.
