The near miss occurred on the straight-away in Wynola, between the fruit stand and Wynola Pizza, a straight-away all you locals know about. And you're all aware of how these accidents can happen. You're behind two or three other cars, and you don't see the lead car signaling left. You punch it where the solid line ends; punch it without care or concern because you're in some kind of big hurry, and then that lead vehicle crosses your trajectory right when you're at full acceleration. Everyone knows the rest of this tragic scenario, myself included, and so I'll warn all you gamblers and impulsive hotheads and big shots and stoners and me-first generation people and other unconscious types right now: you kill or severely maim any of my friends or neighbors or their kids by pulling some thoughtless stunt on this highway, and MI definitely weigh in on the discussion to have you spend years in prison thinking about what it means to drive on these mountain highways. And if you think this is an empty threat, don't fool yourself. I'm dead serious. ' The other tragedy is passing the car(s) in front of you right when someone is turning out of their driveway and onto the highway.
