Thank You
to the people of Julian,
For three years now, the
Pacific Ridge School, a private
school from Carlsbad has been
bringing their incoming 7th
grade students to Julian for a
teambuilding exercise and to
learn a sense of community. It is
a nod to .the people of Julian that
others recognize the how a small
town works together to create a
community.
On August 25, ten teachers and
57 students from Pacific Ridge
School arrived in town to learn
from many people in town and I
would like to personally thankthe
people who spoke to the different
groups of students and teachers.
Five groups learned el:out
five important organizations
or cultures of Julian. I want to
thank David Lewis and Bob
Adam from the Historical Society
for speaking about the hislory
of Julian; Sharyl Massey flom
the Vulcan Mountain Preserve
Foundation who spoke about the
importance of the environrrent
and ecosystems; Fire Caief
Kevin Dubler and his staff who
spoke about the role of the fire

I received positive feedback

Thank you for saying yes when

You helped to showcase the

Dear Editor,
For some time now, many
people have been causing an
uproar of discontent with the
idea of the Cordoba House, a
Muslim community and prayer
center, going up in proximity to
where the World Trade Center
once stood, otherwise known
as Ground Zero. This topic has
sparked a polar view of the
situation; one side supports the
idea, as it is the Constitutional
right to build there and it does
not break any laws to do so, and
the other supports a subjective
standpoint- that it is wrong to
place an Islamic center in such
proximity where 3000 American
civilians were killed by Muslim
radicals. As far as the religio n of
Islam goes, statistically it proves
to have the highest output of
terrorists and other extremists.
If we look back through history,
though, we make a frightening
discovery. When the Moores
(Muslims) were invading Spain,
they established a mosque
in Cordoba, and it is Islamic
culture to never give up ground
once taken. The mosque was
turned into a Christian chruch
after King Fredinand III pushed
the Moores out of Cordoba in
