At its root; Folding Mr. Lincoln is two musicians who have known each other for a very long time, two people who have lived and loved a lot. It's a husband and wife with a huge appetite for music. "We are a folk, acoustic, Americana band. We perform originals as welt as songs written by others. The songs we write and the songs of others that we perform are very special to us. We need them to evoke a feeling, express a mood, or contain a message that we understand and wish to share with our audience." The band is based in San Diego. It all begins at 6pm. Mark Jackson Band Saturday Saturday evening, September 4 the Outdoor Stage will host the always popular Mark Jackson Band. Mark Jackson is a singer/ songwriter whose music has traveled from the hills of Oklahoma to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Influenced by such greats at Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Nell Young and Willie Nelson he carries on the tradition of the story teller and poet combined to create the Western American folk song. Mark's talents have attracted a group of folks that join him in making the Mark Jackson Band. They are ,Grant Kester, David Morgan, Jason Postelneck, Dave Wilkie Pamela Haan and Paul Cruz. 6 o'clock show time, you might want a sweater if the weather says cool. Although Cleopatra had no Egyptian blood, she alone in her ruling house learned Egyptian. • On Aug. 31, 1888, Mary Ann Niichols, the first victim of London serial killer "Jack the Ripper," is found murdered in Whitechapel's Buck's Row. On Nov. 7, after a month of silence, Jack took his fifth and final victim, Mary Kelly. In 1892, with no leads found and no more murders recorded, the Jack the Ripper file was closed. • On Sept. 1, 1983, Soviet jet fighters intercept a Korean Airlines passenger flight in Russian airspace and shoot the plane down, killing 269 passengers and crew members.
