Their repertoire ranges from traditional bluegrass to new acoustic music, and includes a number of original compositions. Finalists in the 2008 Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest, Crystal Ridge is also a Tucson Area Music Awards winner for Best Bluegrass Band in 2004 and 2005. The band is Tom Carpenter on acoustic guitar and vocals, Nellie Hakason on fiddle and vocals, Tyler Walls on banjo, Brian Davies on upright bass and vocals and Kirby Mittelmeier on mandolin and vocals. Come out to Wynola Pizza Express Friday night, September 10 for a debut show by bluegrass band Crystal Ridge, It all begins at 6pm. Howling Coyotes ReUnited For A Special Saturday Night Saturday night, September 11 is going to be a very special night at Wynola Pizza Express. Julian's own popular local band HOWLING COYOTES who performed together in the area from 2005-2007 will be having a one time re-union concert from 6-9pm. You can expect the group to do favorites from the self titled CD released in 2006 like "Whiskey and Cigarettes" and "She's Mine" as well as beloved covers from the live shows like "Stray Cats", "Ghost Riders" and "The Weight". "The very best aspect of this group was always about the fans that gathered for a show" said member Lani Stuart-Gonzalez. "It became like a big fun-loving family gathering at each concert and that was what we missed terribly and why we decided that now was the perfect time for a "family" re-union. The conflict with the wagon train of emigrants from Missouri and Arkansas apparently began when the Mormons refused to sell the train any supplies. On Sept. 10, 1897, 25-year- old London taxi driver George Smith becomes the first person ever arrested for drunk driving after slamming his cab into a building. Smith later pied guilty and was fined 25 shillings. On Sept. 6, 1915, a prototype tank nicknamed Little Willie rolls off the assembly line in England.-Little Willie was far from an overnight success. It weighed 14 tons, got stuck in trenches and crawled over rough terrain at only 2 mph. However, improvements were made to the original prototype and tanks eventually transformed military battlefields. On Sept. 9, 1939, audiences at the Fox Theater in Riverside, Calif., get a surprise showing of '!Gone with the Wind," which the theater manager shows as a second feature. Producer David O. Selznick sat in the back and observed the audience reaction to his highly anticipated film. The movie was released a few months later. On Sept. 7, 1950, Julie Kavner, perhaps best known as the voice of Marge Simpson on "The Simpsons," is born in Los Angeles.
