E-mail: .) 2012 King Features Syndicate, Inc. FISHING REPORT Howdy! From Lake Cuyamaca A big "WAHOO" from old "Dusty Britches" along with "Wet Sox" and "Skid Mark"... If rm lyin, I'm dyin... We just planted 1,000 pounds of DFG trout followed by 1,500 pounds of Jess Ranch trout in the same day (last Thursday, September the 6th) for a total of 2,500 pounds of trout. These fish are starting to come out of the water right now as things are in a cooling trend. These aren't "lunker sized" fish, but will provide good entertainment for our anglers. We are expecting to receive two more plants before the "Kids Fishn' in the Pines" Derby which will be held on Saturday, September 22nd. We plan to have a live band from 9:30 a.m. til about 12:30, awards, prizes, and food..,.The fish (about 400 pounds) was donated by Mario from "Sportsman's Seafood" at 1617 Quivera Road. The "San Diego Anglers" will be serving up yellowfin and bluefin tuna, yellowtail, hot dogs, chili, drinks, and all the trimmings. We will have different age divisions for the kids. Fishing starts at 6:00 a.m./registration for the "Derby" opens at 8:00 a.m. so the kids can get here early to fish for a while, then come up and register for the Derby (if they want).., and then go back to fish some more if they want, but the participants need to register.., not someone for them. A wristband will be issued to all participants. Weigh-in ends at 12:00 (high) noon. That's when the food should be ready, if not before. The festivities will be held at the south end parking lot on the west side of the Lake. There's talk of a nightcrawler eating contest. We are not sure if the nightcrawlers can be cut into pieces so they can slide down easier or if we want the contestants to just go for it. "Wet Sox" wants to be in charge of that contest as he prides himself in picking and rolling his own boogers to seehow far he can flick em... for accuracy and for distance, A "kayak challenge" and a casting competition have also been talked about. If you have any questions or concerns about the Derby, please call (760)765-0515 and ask for Rose. On the day of the derby we will have lots of volunteers to help out people who need it. We depend heavily on our volunteers.., they make the day happen. The last two fish plants will be from DFG (1,600 pounds) around September 12th and one HUGE plant (just before the "Derby") will come from Jess Ranch of (2,000 pounds) on September 16th. The last plant from Jess Ranch should provide some larger fish to catch. Limits are now being taken. Randy (and his clan) from Alpine limited at the handicap fishing dock on the dike using power bait. The bass bite is still on with a 10 pound 4 ounce florida strain largemouth bass reeled in by Sabastian Green using a plastic frog. Channel Cats are coming out at kitchen cove and along the north shore on just nightcrawlers close to the bottom... I just broke wind, so I'll have to leave the office for a while.., later...
