Julian Youth Baseball/Softball Together For 2013

The first Santa Anas of the
season have just finished
howling through our mountains
as we await the first frost of fall,
and yet there are some in the
community who are sitting inside
well-lit rooms in Julian,mapping
out the way to the 2013 season
of Julian Little League Baseball
AND Softball.
That's right, Julian Youth
Baseball will be the base for all
of our kids baseball and softball
needs this coming season.
As we begin our preparatidn for
the 2013 season, JYB has gone
through some internal changes.
The most obvious is that JYB
will now oversee both the boys
and the girls going forward. After
all of the hard work from Mickey
Rott and all of his helpers, ASA
has relinquished their control of
softball and signed off on JYB
taking the great game of softball
over for the girls of Julian. We as
a board want to thank ASA for all
of their hard work and dedication
and hope that we can follow in
their footsteps and continue to
improve the softball experience
for our girls.
While we have some plans
for softball that we will begin
to discuss as the winter goes
along, the biggest news will be
that softball will now be played
a Jess Martin Park. That means
no more splitting of families on
Saturdays. As a Dad of a boy and
a girl, I know how hard it could be
at times when both of your kids
would be playing at the same time
at different venues. That dilemma
should no longer be part of the
equation as your kids will all be
playing within shouting distance
of one another. For the record,
we do encourage (respectful)
shouting at all games. Baseball
is a spectator sport and we
encourage all families to join in
and cheer on our kids.
The other big news for JYB is
the election of a new Board and
it's Board Members.
Before I introduce them,
we would all like to thank all
outgoing members of the Board
for their time and volunteer
efforts. Nothing would have ever
been accomplished without your
time,energy, and perseverance,
as well as your love of the game
and the kids.
