From Lake Cuyamaca "Dusty Britches" here along with "Skid Mark" and "Wet Sox" tellin ya that Saturday's "Kids Fish'n in the Pine Derby" went as smooth as Jene Callaway's bisquets and gravy, In the previous 10 days before the event we stocked over 5,600 pounds of trout. "ROSE GUSS" was in the trenches....co-ordinating and contacting the sponsors, getting all the donated items in and arranging them to suite the age group of the kids, stuffing(with help) all the "Padre Baseball" bacpacks donated by Randy Jones .... working well with others to make registration go smoothly, listing the sponsors for future derbys, and helping out at the awards ceremony. "Cuss Cussler" was the anchor point outside.., co-ordinating the activity at the south end of the west parking lot, barking out orders to the dockhands, directing the traffic flow and parking, checking on broke-down boats, and generally helping out any way he could. All employees and volunteers pitched in....all the way through the clean-up... Jay Blaylock and Mike Noonan were there until dark. Charlie Taylor did a lot of the set-up, was there for the event, and helped break things down. "The San Diego Anglers" did the cooking. Ron Brown and the "Cuyamaca Fire Station" donated the griddle, stove, pots and pans, cooking utensils, and food....Iots of food. John and Julie helped with stuffing the backpacks, registration, and taking pictures. Albie Stark was also there to help out with his professional picture taking touch. Frank and Christina helped folks get set up at "Chambers Park". Kim and John helped with registration along with Barbara and Linda. Arlene and Patty did a great job of getting the customers lined up with boats and fish'n gear....a few dark chocolate- Coconut M and M's helped them get through the morning. The dockhands were put to the task of getting the people out on the water in short order....and did ..... a big thanks to Josh, Cole, Brett, Richard, and Donny. I couldn't have asked for a better team effort. The best part of the day was watching the kids come up to weigh in their catch of the day with that smile on their face ..... hard to forget. To try to give justice to all sponsors in this article would notbe right, so next week I will give credit to the sponsors who also made this day possible... tight lines...
