Though I'm not in the Melodrama, it's dear to my heart. The money raised through the Melodrama is given out through scholarships and helps with other local needs. I'm the chair of the Triangle Club scholarship committee, so I'm very aware of the need for financial help throughout the student community in Julian. Please come to the Triangle Club's annual Melodrama. Have 92036 email: exactly why. Our daughter has joined a travel softball team that practices in Ramona. Her dad took her on the drive a couple of times so that she could get used to it. She is a cautious driver (though I am convinced she drives too fast, but that is probably just morn talking). This past Tuesday night she was traveling home to Julian from Ramona and near the egg ranch a car came up behind her and began tailgating her. She was not about to go faster on a dark road and having only driven the road less than 7 times. He continued to tailgate her and she began to get nervous. She stood her ground and traveled at what she felt was a safe speed for her. The driver then passed her on a turn and double yellow line. She was somewhat relieved that he was now "off her tail." As she continued to drive past the camel ranch, and came around that deceptively sharp turn (you know the one); who did she see plowed into the side of the road, driver stunned? Yes, the man who had been tailing her, riding her, insisting that she go faster! • • She pulled over to check on fun. He asked her September 30th, at 7:15 P.M. in the Town Hall. This special performance [a dress rehearsal] will be offered for the discounted price of $5.00 per person. It will be great fun! Tell all your Julian family, friends, and acquaintances Thank you, Michele Harvey The Life You Save May be, Your Own As parents we dread the day our teenager heads off down the road in their own car, going their own way. This is especially true for us parents here in the mountains. Winding roads, flatlanders, motorcycles and IMPATIENT people make our nerves vibrate even more at the thought of our children out on the road at the young age of 16. Here is a story that tells you age and they exchanged small talk. He insisted he was fine and did not want her to call for help. She sat with him for 10 minutes or so to make sure that he was fine. They then parted ways. As parents we are hopeful that this man has learned a great lesson (or two). You don't know who you are tailgating on these dark roads. It could be my daughter, who is a new driver and trying to remain safe. We have all been passed by someone, only minutes later to be sitting at the same stop light with them. You just don't get there that much quicker. Please consider who you're intimidating out there. Consider the two extra minutes versus and lifetime of agony for parents who may lose a child because they felt intimidated and drove faster than their skills, experience and even road safety allows. Please! Robin Boland The Julion Senior Lunch Progrom We continue to enjoy a breakfast every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the Julian Cafe. Three choices from the menu only $6.50 total.
