Flu Shots are available. It's a shame that you can't leave your belongs anywhere in Julian anymore without them being stolen. I (stupidly) brought a handmade wooden foot-stool that my grandfather made, to the Melodrama to use as an authentic prop during the Olio to put my foot on while playing the spoons and singing Turkey in the Straw. I had so much to carry (3 costume changes, two pair of boots, boa, etc.) that I decided to leave the stool in the kitchen downstairs under the counter, thinking it would be safe there. When I came back the next Friday to use it for the Melodrama, it was gone! I made a flyer and distributed them to everyone that has reason to go into the kitchen, asking anyone knowing anything about it to please return this family treasure of sentimental value. I have not gotten any calls. I'm offering a reward of $50 so if you know anyone' who is the "new owner" of an old dowed wooden stool about i#' X 7" by 6 "tall, I'd sure like to have it back. For ten years now I have spent all my weekends in October doing 16-20 performances to raise money for scholarships and other youth programs for Julian kids (and I don't even have any!) I don't deserve to have my family heirlooms taken from me. Nancy Kramer 760-765-3177 The weekend before last my daughter from Orange county came to Julian to help us with the St. Elizabeth's Oktoberfest. On Sunday morning she drove her car to Ramona for more supplies. When she returned to the bank parking lot coolant from the car was running all over the pavement. It was important that she was able to return to her office by early afternoon. I called Pete and explained the problem. He said bring the car over quickly because he was getting ready to go to town. We did so and he spent some time checking things. out. The fluid was boiling out of the radiator cap. He checked the coolant temperature and the pressure seal of the radiator cap and determined the cap was at fault. He refilled the system and indicated that the car could be driven to Ramona where a new cap could be obtained. I asked Pete what we owed him and he said no charge. My daughter got the new cap, returned home safely, and on time and the car has been running fine. I am thankful that we live in Julian and there are people like Pete who help each other. Sincerely, Dick Thilken Do you think that there angels among us that help us in time of trouble. Until recently, I have never been convinced either way. When the truck hit my car, my life did not flash in front of me. I just heard glass shatter, metal crunch, and felt a very hard spinning sensation. I kept saying "this is a dream, I will wake up in my own bed in my own house". That was not to be. When the car stopped spinning I was staring through a shattered front windshield. It seemed that before I had a chance to take it all in, a woman was in the car holding myhead still. 'She said' she' was 'doncerned about a" )0sible spifial inju?y if I moved my neck She would not let go and kept encouraging me to stay still, stay calm, and not move. She told me no one was hurt and everything would be OK. She held my head until the paramedics arrived and I was taken to the hospital. Since my accident there have been many individuals who have been supportive and sent their good wishes during my recovery: Karen from the fire dept. who rode in the ambulance with me, the cast from the melodrama who sent their good wishes to the hospital before I even arrived, Michele Harvey, thank you for the kind message you left on my answering machine, the July 4 Committee and the many others who called and wished me well. At the beginning of this letter I asked if you believed in angels. I said I was not certain either way. That was before my accident. Now I know at least one. She held my head so I would not develop a spinal injury. I call her an angel. Her name is Kat and she works at Wynola Pizza. I am certain now that there are angels among us who reach out to help when we need it most. If you want more proof just drop in at Wynola Pizza and meet mine. Mary Morris A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope of greening the landscape of idea. -- John Ciardi J October 26, 2011 CHIMNEY SWEEP PELLET, GAS,& WOOD DRYERS EXHAUSTS & VENTS SWAMP COOLERS DONNA LORD (760) 484-3294 "1 can do it" ,..through Christ who strengths me - Phil. 4:13 "Serving the Community of Julian" GATED, SECURE STORAGE SITES -- FULLY ENCLOSED YARD INDUSTRIAL/BUSINESS SITE FOR MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT STORAGE Outside Storage - Trailers, Boats, Cars, RV's Unit Sizes - 5x10, 10x10, 10x15, 10x20, 10x30 3582 Highway 78 at Newman Way a.o00765.2601 ,- 765-2797 i 1 COFFEE HOUSE p_ull up a chair ir00ide or out and enjo00j...
