Member FDIC Offer applies to Option Checking, Personal Checking, Personal Interest Checking and Senior Checking only and ends October 31,2010, by Jan Bunganich Avery McFedries and Eva Cantor piece together wooden puzzle, challenges at the Christmas Gift Fair. Photo courtesy of Anne Garcia In three easy steps, let me share THE GIFT SOLUTION that answers the questions: How can I receive what really matters and at the same time give abundantly to my loved ones? How do I keep "CHRIST" in CHRISTMAS? Here's how to have a rewarding time of it: First, inform your family and friends that this year you are asking for a very special present for yourself. I word it something like this: "What I would really like for Christmas is 'an alternative gift'. This means that instead of sending me some do-dad, please give me a card that reads: "A Christmas gift has been given in your honor to ___( name of worthy charity/ mission)" In my case, the favorite cause is "Mountain Manna", the local hunger ministry. My own family thinks this is a terrific idea, so I always get what I want and they get to teach their children about making a meaningful difference. Two, inform everyone on your list that he or she will be receiving a triple blessing in the form of an alternative gift. The blessings are (a) joy to the giver (b) honor to the recipient and (c) help to untold others in need. Three is the easiest of all. It's a one-stop-shopping experience at the GIFT FAIR ON SATURDAY NOV 6 AT THE JULIAN TOWN HALL 10:00-3:00. It isthe perfect source for a pre-printed gift card or a tangible, colorful, beautiful gift. This unique annual market is sponsored by the Community United Methodist Church of Julian and includes nonprofit groups who have gift cards and fabulous gifts available. Be the first in your family to break with current materialistic trends. Burn no gas driving from store to store. Waste no time. Avoid crazed crowds and irritating return lines. You will be abundantly blessed by your gift of love.
