In The News Ted Haggard's St. James Church Outgrows Barn Ted Haggard, former mega- church pastor and president of the National Association of Evangelicals has a new venture, which is growing. He calls the new work St. James Church, and the first services drew 160 people. Currently, attendance has risen to over 350 attendees, enough to justify moving the church out of Haggard's barn to the nearby Pikes Peak Center. Haggard told the Colorado Springs Gazette that his barn was over capacity. Regarding the congregation's growth Haggard says, "Jesus multiplied loaves and fishes; we multiplied people." Haggard admits that many believe he is not qualified to be a pastor, but thinks that after what he has been through, he's "qualified to help other people in need." Haggard was referring to 2006, when he admitted to a homosexual affair amid allegations of drug use. Referring to the scandal as "the crash," Haggard noted that since it happened, "1 don't judge people anymore."
