December 14, 2011 The Julian News 11 FISHING REPORT "Howdy" From Lake Cuyamaca Well, the wors't thing you can talk about is the weather.., let it blow, let it blow, let it blow. Full limits have been taken with some"lunker" trout included. Both JESS.RANCH and MT.LASSEN out-performed our expectations. Both hatcheries stocked Lake Cuyamaca with some "trophy trout" and that is the truth. Anthony Noy of San Diego and his father returned to Lake Cuyamaca with an impressive double limit. Also included in the latest catch is John Ambrose of Descanso with a 10 pounder to top off his limit using green power bait at "Lone Pine" and Thomas Swanson from National City who caught only three fish but one tipped the scales at 12 pounds 9 ounces on rain, bow power bait also at "Lone Pine" and "Jimbo" James Gesler of La Mesa reeled in a 9 pounder in a boat justoff the shore at.. yes, you guessed it.. "Lone Pine". Justin Dodson of Oceanside caught two fish in 1 hour with a total weight of 16 pounds .... the largest of the two was a 9 pound two ounce trout near the dam using a cleo-gold and a castmaster while trolling. On Sunday afternoon Rex Shun-lake of El Cajon hooked a 7 pound 8 ounce rainbow as part of his limit using night crawlers at "Pumphouse Cove" from shore. Ky'le Shumake of El Cajon caught his limit.., all at the dam, and all on power bait. Debbie Savy of El Cajon using power bait on the wooden dock at Chambers Park brought in a 9pound 4 ounce trout. So the lunkers are here if the wind doesn't blow you away. The prognosticators are predicting a change in the weather patterns. The high pressure is going to leave us... opening the door for a frontal system to enter the San Diego area Monday or Tuesday with temperatures dropping to the point of a possibility of local snow. So if you are planning on a visit to the Lake around that time, dress warm and be prepared. Remember that we have waterfowl hunting on Sunday mornings and Wednesdays. If you are interested an affordable get-away, give us a call and ask about our "Off- Season Specials".,. incentives to make it easy for you to get away and enjoy the mountains and the Lake.. tight lines... usty Britches. There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. -- Steven Wright Cindy Brook Get Ready for Winter Are you ready for the cold? Q: While sorting through an old box of clothing buttons, I found two that were political, a "Housewives forlke" and an "RFK in '68." Both are 2 1/2 inches high and in excellent condition. I have been offered $50 for both, but I think that might be a little low. -- Bethany, Chesterfield, Mo. A: I found both of your buttons in an auction catalog, "Hake's Americana Auction No. 197. The Ike button was valued, by Ted Hake for $100, and the i]i RFK portrait button, which is considered extremely rare, at $175: ,,, Q: I have an RCA console television set, Model 17T. which was originally purchased in about 1950. Could you give me an estimated value of their worth and when produced? -- Dee. Sun City, Ariz. A: I recommend you get a copy of "Collecting Swarovski: Identification and Price Guide" by Dean A. Genth (Krause Books) to determine the value of your candlesticks. Your other alternative is to hire the services of a professional appraisal in your $75 to $150 range. Televisions : area. If you hire an appraiser, produced after 1948 are fairly common and do not create that much interest with collectors. As with most collectibles, there are always exceptions such as the 1975 Panasonic "Flying Saucer" model ($600) and the 1960 Philco "Predicta" ($500). ~-** Q: I have a pair of Swarovski crystal candlesticks, about 2 1/2 you should expect to pay for this service. Q: I have a large collection of 78-rpm recordings, mostly Victor Red Seals and many recorded on just one side. The artists include Alma Gluck and Paul Whiteman. What are records of this vintage worth? -- George, Albuquerque, N.M. A: Most Victor Red Sea recordings from the early years of the last century are valued in the $1 to $5 range depending on artist, desirability and condition. Caruso made recordings at Victor, but the most valuable are those issued on other, earlier labels such as Pathe and Zonophone. Write to Larry Cox in care of King Features Weekly Service, P.O.
